GNP network hospitals in Zapopan: why the municipality matters for your medical insurance

Zapopan hosts top-tier hospitals in GNP's network. See which ones — and how to confirm your policy actually gives you access to them.

If you live in Zapopan, you probably think of your city as part of "Guadalajara". For many things it is: they form a single urban area. But for your medical insurance, Zapopan is a separate municipality, and that changes what you see when you search for hospitals in your insurer's network. Many locals filter the directory by "Guadalajara" and miss hospitals just around the corner in Zapopan.

With data updated to July 2026, here are the hospitals in GNP's Zapopan network and how to confirm your plan actually gives you access. If you're still fuzzy on how Major Medical works, start with our guide to GMM, deductible and coinsurance.

Zapopan and Guadalajara: complementary neighbors

The Guadalajara Metropolitan Area brings together several municipalities, and Zapopan today concentrates some of western Mexico's most modern developments and hospitals, especially along the Puerta de Hierro and Andares corridor, home to high-specialty hospitals. The good news for policyholders is that Zapopan and Guadalajara complement each other: between the two you get one of the most complete hospital networks in Mexico, often minutes apart. The key is making sure your policy covers you in both, not just one.

GNP in-network hospitals in Zapopan

According to GNP's official medical-provider directory consulted in July 2026, the following Zapopan hospitals appear in-network (with their tier and hospital level):

  • Hospital Ángeles Andares — Av. Patria 1355, Puerta de Hierro. Level 200, Platino tier, hospital level A.
  • Hospital Real San José (Valle Real) — Central 911, Residencial Poniente. Flexible Indigo, hospital level A.
  • Centro Médico Puerta de Hierro — Empresarios 150 Int. P20, Puerta de Hierro. Flexible Indigo, hospital level A.
  • Hospital Real San José Del Bosque — Av. Lázaro Cárdenas 4149, Jardines. Flexible Ambar, hospital level B.
  • Hospital Santa María Chapalita — Niño Obrero 1666, Chapalita. Flexible Ambar, hospital level B.
  • Hospital MIT — Juan Gil Preciado 8920, Parques de Tesistán. Flexible Cuarzo, hospital level C.
  • Jardines Hospital de Especialidades — Manuel J. Clouthier 669, Jardines de Guadalupe. Flexible Cuarzo, hospital level C.
  • Hospital Arboledas — Nicolás Copérnico 4000, Arboledas. Flexible Cuarzo, hospital level C.
  • Pablo Neruda Hospital — Av. Pablo Neruda 4150, Villa Universitaria. Flexible Cuarzo, hospital level C.

Nine options ranging from high-specialty hospitals in Puerta de Hierro (level A) to community hospitals in Tesistán and the west side. Note that Hospital Real San José has two campuses — Valle Real and Del Bosque — useful if you move between different parts of Zapopan.

Remember: hospital networks change. A hospital can enter or leave the network and tiers get updated. This list corresponds to July 2026; before a scheduled surgery or appointment, confirm through GNP's official directory (gnp.com.mx) or with your advisor.

What "tiers" and "levels" mean

When you browse the directory you see labels like Platino, Flexible Indigo/Ámbar/Cuarzo and Level A/B/C. Worth understanding:

The hospital level (A, B, C, D) classifies the hospital by specialty and infrastructure: A is top-specialty and technology, dropping to lower-complexity clinics. This level hits your wallet — in plans with variable participation, deductible and coinsurance depend on the level of hospital you use.

The tier (Platino, Flexible Indigo, Ámbar, Cuarzo) is the GNP product line in which the hospital is in-network. In practice, your policy must include the hospital in the tier you bought: a high-tier hospital like Ángeles Andares or Real San José usually requires a plan with access to that category. Checklist: make sure your plan covers the hospital you want

In GNP Personaliza you choose your hospital access:

  • Essential: defined hospital list, more accessible premium.
  • Full: every GNP in-network hospital in your city.

Before buying or renewing, verify:

  • That the Zapopan hospital you want is in your tier and access. Being in the directory isn't enough; your plan must include it.
  • The hospital level (A/B/C), so you know your deductible and coinsurance.
  • Whether you chose Essential or Full. If you want to pick between Zapopan and Guadalajara hospitals, Full access gives you that flexibility.
  • That your policy covers both municipalities. Confirm you aren't limited to "Guadalajara" when you live or seek care in Zapopan.
  • That your trusted doctors have privileges at a hospital in your tier.
  • The directory at every renewal — networks change.

Bottom line

Zapopan today has some of western Mexico's most modern hospitals, especially along the Puerta de Hierro corridor, and GNP is in-network with several of them. But since Zapopan is a separate municipality from Guadalajara, your insurance should cover you in both. Choosing the right hospital access and confirming that "your" hospital is in your tier is what makes your policy actually work when you need it.
